Duplex systems offer excellent corrosion protection at low total layer thickness. They consist of a galvanic base layer (cathodic component) and further organic top layers. The organic coating is mechanically highly resilient and gives the components an attractive appearance. If the top layer is damaged, the electroplated base layer continues to provide high cathodic corrosion protection.
